The Best Pumpkin Displays in New England
Autumn is the only season I pray for overcast. The hidden sun provides the perfect natural vibrance and everything in the viewfinder seems to magically pop. Luckily, I had one of these perfect moody days earlier this week. So, I took a Zipcar to find the best fall decor in New England along my way to finally visit the autumnal wonder that is Deerfield, MA.
On my two hour trek I found the most magical pumpkin displays, including the above from Wilson Farm. Since my trip was so fruitful, I wanted to include a little guide on where to find the most magical seasonal displays. From front door decor to roaring festivals, this list won’t have you wanting for a view to make you swoon.
Beacon Hill, Boston, MA
As a Boston native I am very fortunate to have some of the best displays in my backyard. Boston’s Beacon Hill, tucked right by the common, is home to many amazing front door installations. During Halloween, the locals really get into it – there is everything from spooky spiders to chilling witches.
South End, Boston, MA
Another residential area of Boston, this yuppy mecca has some great displays and more than a few fantastic restaurants. Since many people live here with their families, you will find some fun and inventive residences. People really get into the trick OR treat.
Deerfield, MA
Deerfield is historically historic. The entire town is filled with history buffs and leaf peeping fanatics. Crawling cars and pointing fingers are well recognized here. Knowing they are on display, it is only natural that many of the buildings get dressed up for the occasion.
Lexington, MA
Wilson Farm is a neighborhood wonder during the autumn season. While it is usually a store filled with homegrown and rustic goodies, this shop in Lexington goes all out during Halloween. Building a giant tower, the farm owners stack pumpkins like puzzle pieces on the front face of the building. It’s impossible to miss. Stop in for a look and a fresh apple cider donut.
Pumpkin Festival (Oct 11-13), Milford, NH
Pumpkin festivals are my favorite this time of year. It’s a great way to celebrate the season with local shop owners and friends. From face painting to scarecrow making the pumpkin festival in Milford, NH will always have my heart.

Roger Williams Zoo, Providence, RI
See the magic of hundreds of jack o lanterns aglow at the Roger Williams Zoo! This is a great one to bring the kids. You can buy your tickets here.
