It’s said that is you wrap gifts nice, it’s like giving twice. How about giving something homemade? Does that count as thrice? I’m getting ahead (no pun intended) of myself here. However, when you see how easy it is to create this DIY raised padded headband, you’ll be making them for everyone on your list
I just love that the Renaissance style is back. From braided headbands to velvet tones, it’s safe to say that I hope this trend is here to stay. I never thought I had a headband head. They pinched and crunched down my hair in the worst way. That is until I discovered I was wearing the wrong type of headband. What a glorious discovery!

Materials for your DIY Padded Headband
1-2″ Foam (cushion foam at the craft store)
Paper
1/4 yard stretch Velvet
Instructions
step one: Cut a 1.5 inch strip out of the chair cushion (as pictured)
step two: Adhere foam to headband. You may need a little extra to fully covered. It is going to be completely covered in the end with fabric! so no worries if it isn’t smooth looking. Trim foam as desired. I trimmed the sides so they would be shallower than the top. In the end, my edges where 1/2 inch tall and my 1.5 inch on the top.
step three: Make your pattern. Measure the circumference of the end of the headband and the middle. Using these two numbers make a pattern as shown:
step four: Sew along the dotted edge. Flip to expose right side and pull over the foam. This may take a little tugging, no worries this is normal.
step five: Close the raw edges with a spot of glue.
