Every man has a box of old ties in their closet – when in reality, they only wear two. Today, I’m teaching you how to make Grandpa’s vintage tie collection into a modern headband with just some glue! This men’s tie headband diy is a great want to up-cycle and wear that beloved, forgotten tie.

I love men’s ties, probably more than Marshall even though he has a huge box in his closet. I love the fun, conversational patterns and am always taking them home for him from the thrift store I always make the promise “if you don’t wear them, I will!” Well, there isn’t much room in business America for a lighthouse tie, so I don’t blame him. However, until now, I hadn’t found the perfect DIY, but now I’m sure I’ve struck gold. This is so easy, no sew and a perfect way to wear mens ties (finally!).

Material’s for Upcycled Men’s Tie Headband

Men’s tie

1.5 inch plastic headband

Glue gun

Instructions

step one: Thread the skinny end of the men’s tie onto the plastic headband so that none of the plastic shows through.

step two: Fold the tie back onto itself.

step three: tie the a simple knot in the middle of the headband. Adjust so that both fronts of the tie face forward.

step four: remove excess of at the end of the tie. Making sure that the knot is positioned correctly before trimming.

Step five: secure the ends with a glue gun and ribbon to cap the ends, or just a glue gun! Viola! you have a diy men’s tie headband with this simple tutorial!
