How to craft the perfect (October) instagram caption

crafting the perfect october instagram caption

So you think you’re punny, huh? If you’ve ever popped over to my Instagram (hint, hint), you will see that I’m a sucker for a pun. I’m not the chatty sort of blogger; I think the Internet somehow brings out some introverted tendencies that are (in person) pushed to the back. My captions, instead of the inspirational or sentimental, try to be more, well, punny. While I like to think that I’ve gotten better at creating a good laugh, but it takes some time to come up with a good tag line. The caption of an image is always a huge selling point for a like, so perfecting this colloquial craft is essential. So, let’s get started on how to craft the perfect (October) instagram caption.

Honestly, there is nothing that displeases me more than a gorgeous photo (and we were all once guilty of it – I’m looking at you college Marissa) with a caption that is overused, slightly pretentious or/an overrated song lyric. We, as creative minds, are better than this. So, be you. Be original, inspiring and funny with a good pun. Here are three ways to create better captions.

Idioms

What is an idiom? well I won’t give you a grammar lesson, but an idiom is a fancy way of saying, well, a saying. A common little jingle you’ve heard, English slang. For example, “apple of my eye” and “a bad apple”. Look at your photo. Is it you picking apples? go to this website and type in ‘apple’ here you will find all the punny sayings about apples. I also do this with synonyms until I find something just right.

Captions Using Idiom Method:

Bone = “-one”: Bone Appetit

Witch = “-itch”: one bad witch, poor little witch girl, quit your witchin’

Creep = “-eep”: creeping on the job, a goodnight’s creep, read it and creep, talk is creep

Ghoul/ Girl= “-irl”: ghoul boss, ghoul next door, a working ghoul

Keep a List of your Favorite October Instagram Caption

Sometimes, I think of something really cool and then, promptly, forget it. That’s why I keep a list in my notes all about captions! Now, if I would only remember to look at that list.

Captions on my list:

Knock, Knock. Who’s there?

Sometimes you’ve been looking for a caption for so long, racking your brain. Well, let me tell you. if you are a master of the corny like me, you know just where to look. As goes with everything -if you think you have a really masterful idea, someone on the Internet has already thought of it. Picture of you dressed as a cute little witch? search ‘witch knock knock jokes’ – you’ll get some chuckles.

Now, get a million likes, and rule the Instagram world.
