Celebrating Christmas on Cape Cod
If you’ve heard of Cape Cod, you’ve probably heard of it as a nostalgic summer getaway. With gorgeous beaches and tons of opportunities for family fun, it is easy to see why it THE place to summer. However, this charming peninsula has a lot more to offer than just long days on the beach. In fact, there are so many Christmas celebrations, tree lightings, and Santa sightings throughout December for the public to enjoy.
My friend, Kelsey Converse, and I got to experience the wonder of Christmas in Cape Cod first hand this year. Traveling down to Chatham (the farthest point on the Cape), took us about 2 hours from Boston. Stopping at a Christmas Tree Farm, a famous country store and a notable boardwalk on the way – the journey was nothing less than picturesque. Our cameras at the ready, we made our trip and finally stopped to rest our heads at the Chatham Inn.
The most notable part of Christmas on Cape Cod is the wide variety of celebrations. While many of the parades happens towards the beginning of the month, don’t let the calendar fool you. On any given weekend there is a craft show, a brewery opening, or a boat parade.

Where to Stay
We stayed at the lovely and cozy Chatham Inn at 359 Main. With an amazing location close to the center of Chatham, we were able to walk to all the local shops on Main Street as well as dinner at the Squire. The rooms were so charming and the beds were like sleeping on air. We loved the nightly turn down service, that were served with a truffle from Chatham Candy Manor. While we stayed here free of charge, I would recommend this luxurious hotel to anyone.

One amazing thing about the Chatham Inn at 359 Main is their gourmet kitchen. While we were there mid-week in the off season, the restaurant is renowned for its culinary artwork. We enjoyed breakfast each morning by the fire (included with your stay).
There is also a wine bar right off the lobby, which is well known to the locals. Enjoy a platter of delicious charcuterie with your favorite glass of bubbles be a roaring fire.
