Bleach Stamping Tutorial -The Coolest Bleach Tie Dye
You’ve seen the vintage bleach tie dye sweeping the web in this time of craft awakening. However, you haven’t seen this tutorial for bleach stamping. It’s a fun, easy way to add designs to your clothing without going for the full bleached look! I love that this bleach stamping tutorial results in a custom print, all with items that you have in your closet!
The bleach really develops and with a thick, sturdy cotton (like your Hanes t-shirt) into a lovely crisp light orange. In fact, I’ve discovered that with other materials, it doesn’t create the same, crisp look. I found that thick, black cotton clothing works best for this tutorial.
Bleach stamping is a fun easy way to upcycle your clothing and add a little pizzazz. It’s a great idea for girls night in (or just something cute to send as a gift in the mail). It also works on masks!

Materials for Bleach Stamping
Rubber stamp
Paper towel
Bleach
Black cotton shirt (like this one)
Instructions for Bleach Stamping
Wet the paper towel and wring out. Fold to create a damp pad that is ~1/2 inch thick. Place on plate, pour bleach over the damp paper towel and allow to absorb.
Place the shirt on a flat surface. If a thin material add cardboard in between the laters of the shirt.
Place stamp lightly on pad and dab 1-2x to ensure coverage on the whole stamp. Press lightly to garment. Wet stamp on pad in between each application, every other works fine as well.
Allow 15-20 minutes to develop and wash normally.
Tips & Tricks: With a light cotton or synthetic material, a piece of cardboard will be needed between the layers of the shirt. However, I have found that with traditional, thick cotton this isn’t even needed! The design does not bleed through the first layer.
