48 hours in Bennington, VT with the Four Chimney Inn

A few weekends ago we had the pleasure of traveling to Bennington, Vermont. Our first stop? The endlessly charming Four Chimney Inn, a charming 11 arce estate tucked in the mountains of Vermont.  My family and I used to travel through Bennington, on our way to visit relatives in New York. We admired the charm of the this rustic little town from the car window. However, we never had the pleasure of stopping until Lynn, from the Four Chimney Inn, invited us to stay at her beautiful bed and breakfast.

We travelled to the Four Chimney Inn for  Maple Sugar Weekend, a time when all the sugar shacks welcome visitors to the beginning of maple sugar season. People come from all over the country to visit and learn about the delicious tradition of making maple syrup. While we visited some local sugar shacks, we also visited other local artisans, like Bennington Potters. From our wonderful weekend trip we compiled a few favorites to share for when you travel to Bennington.

To Stay – the Four Chimney Inn

The Four Chimney Inn has been run by Lynn and her husband, Pete, since 2005. They left the corporate world to come to the charming Bennington and run the Inn. Since purchasing the eleven acre estate, the two have created a charming refuge for weekenders and newlyweds alike. The two were even married at the Four Chimney Inn! Does it get any cuter than that?

We stayed in one of the Inn’s suites, complete with a jet tub and a chandelier. Every room has a custom charm and decor, making your experience boutique and unique. Gorgeous windows let in the most soothing morning light and the fireplace keep us cozy well into the night. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. So, every morning we woke well rested and came down to a homemade breakfast. We recommend the french toast with local maple syrup, but you really cant go wrong with any choice.

The Four Chimney Inn is the ultimate place for a relaxed weekend getaway filled with culture and amazing views. We loved the Bennington Museum for the unique collection of Grandma Moses’ prints. If you aren’t familiar, she is famous for her intricate paintings of New England landscapes. The inn even provided us with complimentary tickets to the museum, so be sure to ask during your stay! Overall, This little corner of Vermont is rich with history. It is a great place to explore or simply relax and take in the rural charms. Whether you want to explore or just relax with the luxuries of the Four Chimney Inn, this Vermont gem should be your next weekend getaway. Thank you Lynn and Pete for a fabulous stay!
